General Description:
The Autodeposition process is a simple, reliable chemical
coating process.
WHAT IS AUTODEPOSITION?
Autodeposition is a patented waterborne organic coating
process using chemical rather than electrical energy
to coat metal parts with a uniform, high quality finish.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Following conventional cleaning and rising, metal
parts are immersed in a coating bath containing Autophoretic®
coating chemicals. It is here where the chemical deposition
of resin and pigment particles takes place.
EASE OF PROCESS CONTROL
The thickness of the coating is time and temperature
dependent. The coating itself becomes self-limiting
as the reaction slows with the thickness of film.
That is why autodeposition creastes a uniform coating,
even in hidden or recessed areas. The final result
is a coating by autodeposition providing a uniform,
high quality finish that is tough and resistant to
corrosive environments.
Product and Process Development
For many
years Parts Finishing Group and predecessor companies
have been working with Henkel Surface Technologies
(website: www.ThomasRegister.com/HenkelSurftech)
to develop 800 and 900 Series Autophoretic® processes
and know-how as a job shop coater to the automotive
and industrial markets. It is likely that Parts Finishing
Group has more applications knowledge and experience
than most any company in the USA. Parts Finishing
group has coated thousands of different parts and
parts configurations over the last 15 years.
Parts Finishing
Group is the first 900 series job shop coating applicator.
The following shows a comparison of Autophoretic®
properties to E-coat and powder coat.
